Stop the presses! In Spring 2025 GJHP will present the hit musical NEWSIES!
The GJHP Musical is a no-cut show open to Glencoe 6th-8th graders for both the Cast and Crew. This is one of the largest productions in the area, with a professional creative team providing an experience like those at New Trier High School, including exciting dances, awesome harmonies, great costumes and live band. Misner will be transformed with a huge set, lights and sound. See below for additional details or Download an Info Packet.

​An Audition Workshop will be held on December 4 at 3:30pm. with Auditions & Callbacks running December 9-13. Registered participants can start picking their time slots on November 21 at 5pm. Casting will be announced December 20 at 5pm.
Regular rehearsals for the cast will begin on January 6, 2025 on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:45pm. Cast members are allowed one approved weekly conflict during the regular rehearsal period and will not be called every day. We can work around Basketball for all roles and Volleyball for some roles.
NEW: We are seeking featured dancers, tappers and tumblers to be in a few big dances! This is the perfect opportunity for those who have limited availability but want to be a part of the big show! Less time (and less singing) required! This will not take away from full cast members who will also dance. We just want to provide an opportunity for more Glencoe students to be involved. Email Samara with questions!
The $700 registration fee includes participation in all rehearsals and performances plus a cast welcome party, dinner at dress rehearsals, costumes (except basic items), official show t-shirt, a ticket to Brigadoon at New Trier High School, and more!

This no-cut production of NEWSIES is open to all Glencoe 6th-8th graders. Everyone who auditions will be cast in the show! Samara Harand (Rock of Ages: Teen Edition, Legally Blonde, Footloose, High School Musical) returns to direct and choreograph, joined by a professional team of directors and designers.

Find out more about joining the CAST of NEWSIES at a FREE Informational Meeting, November 20 at 7pm in Misner Auditorium. This meeting is for those new to the program or have questions. You do not have to be registered for the show to attend, but please sign-up for the meeting for a head count.​

Inspired by the real-life Newsboys' Strike of 1899 in New York City, NEWSIES tells the rousing story of the newsboys (and newsgirls!) who stand up against powerful publishers to demand fair treatment. The charismatic but rebellious Jack Kelly rallies young people from across the city to strike against unfair working conditions and demand change "Once and For All."
Filled with catchy songs and exciting dances, NEWSIES explores themes of friendship, solidarity and the power of the press, in a relatable tale of the underdog standing up for what is right.
