The Glencoe Junior High Project presents the hit musical NEWSIES, live in Misner Auditorium at Central School, for four performances, April 24-27, 2025. This production will feature over 40 Glencoe 6th-8th graders in the cast & crew and is appropriate for audiences of all ages. Tickets will go on sale in March 2025. Cast details coming soon!
Inspired by the Newsboys' Strike of 1899 in New York, NEWSIES tells the rousing story of the newsboys and girls who stand up against powerful publishers to demand fair treatment. The charismatic but rebellious Jack Kelly rallies young people from across the city to strike against unfair working conditions and demand change "Once and For All."

Filled with catchy songs and exciting dances, NEWSIES explores themes of friendship, solidarity and the power of the press, in a relatable tale of the underdog standing up for what is right.

Based on the 1992 movie starring Christian Bale, NEWSIES features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors) and Jack Feldman, and a book by Tony-winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). Featuring the now classic songs "Carrying the Banner" and "Seize the Day," NEWSIES is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and all audiences.
